Jewellery ~ Not just about the Bling... I have always been the creative and adventurous sort. Much of my childhood was spent outdoors with my younger brothers in tow. When I wasn’t building forts or making mud pies, garnished with flowers and leaves, I was a swanky, swashbuckling pirate. I gave up my pirate days when I was about nine years old, partially because my treasure maps never led me back to my buried booty (mostly my brothers’ Matchbox cars) but mainly because my family moved to Northern Vancouver Island. My adventures continued but in a slightly different direction. As well as filling buckets with marine life to deposit in our bathtub and capturing everything from salamanders to tadpoles in jars I discovered the wonderful cultural crafts of the First Nations people. I was befriended by a few of the girls from a local reserve and would often accompany them to their grandmothers’ homes where I soon learned about blanket making, embroidery using thread and beads as well as weaving and loom bead work. Thanks to the graciousness of those kind ladies that was the beginning of my interest in jewelry making and many other forms of art and crafts since. Designing and creating is my passion. It’s my thing and I love it!
